Gavin DuPree Minooka DB Class of 2028 Deep Dish Football Interview

Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

#13 | WR/DB | Minooka | 6’3 | 170 lbs (gaining) | 4.79 40-yard dash | 29.6 vertical | 155 bench | 275 squat | 315 deadlift (3-rep) | 145 clean

There is a moment in every young athlete’s life where the “why” becomes clear. For Minooka defensive back Gavin DuPree, that moment did not take long to arrive.

“My father isn’t in my life,” DuPree said. “Without my mom I wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything. She does everything for me. I do it all for her so hopefully one day I can give it back to her.”

That kind of clarity, at 15 years old, is rare. And it shows up in the way he plays.

DuPree is a 6’3, 170-pound DB in the Class of 2028 out of Minooka High School. He runs a 4.79 forty, posts a 29.6 vertical, and put up 4 interceptions as a sophomore, including one returned for a touchdown. He has already visited Notre Dame and Northwestern, and expects his recruitment to take a significant jump heading into his junior season.

Gavin DuPree | Minooka DB | Class of 2028 Highlights

The tools are obvious on film. The length at his size is rare. He moves well, competes in the box, and has the football IQ to match his physical traits. He models his game after Notre Dame DB Leonard Moore, studying his footwork and play style.

But spend a few minutes talking to DuPree and what stands out most is not the size or the stats. It is the maturity.

He comes in during his off period when he is struggling in class. He lifts every day, sometimes before school. He talks about wanting to be known as respectful and supportive to the people around him. He wants a college program that pushes players to be better off the field, not just on it.

“I won’t give you any problems,” DuPree said. “I am a player that is gonna come every day looking to compete and get better.”

His junior season goals are straightforward: 4 or more interceptions, all-conference honors, and a shot at all-state. One percent better every day.

For coaches still getting familiar with the Minooka pipeline, DuPree is the name to write down now.
