Class Of 2023 Defensive Tackles Illinois Class Grade: C+
This 2023 Class of defensive tackles is like the Class of 2022 very, very disappointing. Alot of multi technique tackles in the state of Illinois for this year and still a lot of raw potential. But again not a great array of DTs in this class. For me TJ McMillen, Roderick Pierce are the two best defensive tackles in the state of Illinois. TJ is enigma wrapped in a question, he can play on the offensive line as well. Who ever gets is getting a highly athletic kid that has unlimited potential. Most college coaches that I have talked to about McMillen see him as an ultimate utility player and not till his sophomore year in college will they get a good idea where to play him. Roderick is the real deal and only gets better every year from seeing him in 2020 to now. Considered on of the best pure defensive tackles in the state of Illinois. Boston Bower out of Huntley has found himself and looks great at the spot, a intriguing recruit for the 2023 class.
2 Defensive Tackles Ready To Explode On The Recruiting Scene:
Derion Lee Zion-Benton - Kid is a pure powerhouse, and knows how break through a block and squeeze down on the run.
Andrew Zook Yorkville- Yes could be a defensive end but I love Andrew at the interior along with 4 man front. Just imagine this kid against guard in the college game and gets that fast 2 step on him, oh that is scary sight people.
1 Defensive Tackle That Will Become A National Recruit:
Jamel Howard Marist - Jamel Howard is guy all the college coaches what to know about in the late Winter. Highly athletic like Zook and will punish you. Love the fact that he stays in his assignment.

Class Of 2023 Defensive Ends Illinois Class Grade: B+
Patrick Farrell & Brooks Bahr are your traditional big dog defensive end recruits that top players in the class. Danny Novickas, Owen DiFranco, Andrew Laurich are the three risers in the class that are getting the offers now. Glenbard East has a terrible twosome on their defensive line that gives QBs nightmares. Julius Word out of Carbondale is name you must know and should keep an eye out for.
2 Defensives Ends Ready To Explode On The Recruiting Scene:
Karl Schmalz Niles Notre Dame - Love the fact that he straight up is a master in his leverage and top hand work. Has some of the best technique in the class.
Quentin Handy Zion-Benton - Old school three man front defensive end that could cause chaos and also could play defensive tackle.
Coach Big Pete's Favorite:
Joey Ayala St. Francis- One of new favorite recruits people need to pay attention to. Was responsible for a lot of the Spartan defensive line success.
Class Of 2023 Linebackers Illinois Class Grade: B-
Alot of great size and potential in this Class of 2023 linebackers no doubt about it. But just so little instinctiveness and on field IQ in this group. Alot of mistakes on the field being made by this group. Jake Scianna is the best linebacker of the field and if he was 3 inches taller he would be a top 10 linebacker in the nation. Chris McKinney, Tyler Jansey, Matt Kingsbury are other top linebackers in this class at Illinois. Batavia has a pure killer duo of linebackers in Jansey and Sadowsky.
2 Linebackers Ready To Explode On The Recruiting Scene:
Ross Dansdill Wheaton North - Dansdill is a pure athletic specimen that a lot of people still don't know about him and its shocking. The guy has been absolute wrecking ball these past years and has improved in his pursuits.
Jack Oberhofer Glenbard West- Glenbard West still has one of the best kept secrets in DuPage County. More schools are starting to put eyes on him.
3 Linebackers You Should Not Sleep On:
John Weidenbach Benet Academy- This defender made a name for himself during freshman year. People are still need to know this kids name.
Justin Kretz Warren Township - Kretz is a monster of defender and deserves more respect than he is getting. Complete killer at the Boom Showcase and growing!!!
Kiefer Tarnoki Sycamore- Kiefer is that kickass take no names linebacker. Undersized weapon you need to know.

Class Of 2023 Illinois Defensive Backs Class Grade: B
Athleticism is key for this class of defensive backs but again a lot like the class of WRs, the growth has not been seen yet. Alot of horrible technique and I been bad hip tracing and quitting on tackles not to mention just some horrible reads. This Class is very top heavy with talented Power 5 corners. Right now, we got 3 big dog recruits with a national spotlight on them. 4 recruits that are getting hug midwestern program attention and a small group of wait and sees.
3 Best DBs In This Class:
John Nestor Marist - Mr. Nestor has compared a lot to former Land of Lincoln star recruit Matt Bowen from college coaches. You can see it, but I see Nestor as more of a "make name for yourself", type of recruit.
Damon Walters Bolingbrook- Damon has just been a pure spectacular to watch these past seasons. He is the real deal and there is no doubt about it can contribute early in his college career.
Jyarie Hill Kankakee- Jyarie has a chance to go down as one of the most talented recruits in the state of Illinois for this class. He is a titan in the game and is still growing which college coaches love.
2 DBs Ready To Explode On Scene In Illinois:
Kael Ryan Sterling- Kael was out for last season. BUT.... this recruit would have been in the Top 30 recruits in the state of Illinois if he had played.
Cassius Callahan Warren Township- Callahan is one of the most overshadowed recruits in the state of Illinois that people need to be talked about more. He is also playing on team that has one of the best secondaries in the state of Illinois.
