Zach Poole Visits U of I During Spring Practice

By: Jenny

Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Zach Poole (C/O 2026) joined a handful of recruits that were invited to a spring practice at U of I. The 6'6, 300lb Tackle from Lincoln Community H.S. was invited by Coach Pat Ryan, Director of Illinois High School Relations. Poole was "taken away" by how awesome Memorial Stadium is. Poole was able to meet Head Coach Bret Bielema and the Illini coaching staff. After practice led by OL Coach Bart Miller, the recruits were given a speech on the academics at U of I and what programs they offer. Poole was impressed with the weight room and the tour by Coach Tank (Illini Strength and Conditioning Coach). From the meticulous attention to the nutrition station to the impressive locker room, every detail showcased the dedication of the University of Illinois football program. The day spent at U of I left Poole excited and with a newfound appreciation for the team's hospitality and professionalism, citing that everyone at U of I showed him that "the term FAMILLY isn't just for the people on the staff or the team, it's meant for everyone". Poole hopes to be back in the fall for a game day visit.
