Walker Owens Wheaton North RB/ATH Class Of 2024 6'2 195

Walker Owens how was your Sophomore season? My sophomore season was one to remember. Getting to play quality varsity minutes on a state championship winning team was incredible. I started my sophomore season on the sophomore team but when our all conference running back went down in Week 6 I was called up to play varsity football. I caught on to the new speed fairly quickly and put up good numbers against quality teams. I finished my year with 1,434 total rushing yards and 16 touchdowns averaging 8 yards per carry. What does football mean to you? Football means a lot to me. Growing up in Texas I really developed my love for the game. I started playing back in kindergarten and after my first game I fell in love. There’s nothing better than being able to go out on the field with your brothers and battle it out for 4 quarters. Football has taught many lessons that I apply to my life and attitude every day. What should college coaches know about you? There are many things they should know. I’m a very determined and hardworking player. It has always been my dream to play at the next level and am willing to do whatever to reach that goal What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I definitely think it’s reaction time/vision. I’m very good at finding the open hole and hitting it whether it’s the hole the play was designed to go to or finding a new one. My speed and size are also very important traits along with my experience. What part of your game do you plan on working on in the offseason? I’ve already spent a lot of time in the weight room and plan on spending more much more. I’ve been working on getting stronger and more explosive. I want to get to the point where once I get through the first level, I’m gone.
