Joey Ferruzza West Chicago Athlete Class of 2023 5'8 176

Joey Ferruzza how was your junior season?

Personally, I feel improved a lot on both sides of the ball, even with breaking my elbow in Week 2. At RB I was seeing gaps and cutbacks a lot easier and defensively after watching film before the game it was easy just recognizing certain plays and getting in to stop it early. I was able to come back for the last 3 games and helped my team get our first win. As a team i feel we need to improve a lost which for my senior season me and my fellow seniors already are taking big roles as leaders and holding the younger guys accountable so we are all ready for what's to come next season. What does football mean to you?

Football is my everything, everything I do resolves around football for me. My grades, joining wrestling and track, just everything I do I try to make it beneficial because it's something I've done my whole life and it's something I love. What should college coaches know about you? I lead others. I try my hardest to lead my teammates and inspire help them. When some of my teammates started to struggle in classes I stepped in to help. If you were to ask my coaches they will tell you the same thing. No matter the score, who we play, or anything I will never let my teammates quits until practice is over or the clock says 0:00. I expect 100% out of everyone including myself no matter what, but one more important thing to me is having a family environment with a football team. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My play recognition and my knowledge for the sport. From playing my whole life I can read defenses, offenses, and reading plays. After using that I can get to the play and out muscle everyone around to make the tackle/ or make a jump cut and run up field. Who else on West Chicago should I be on the lookout for this upcoming season? Alexis Correa, our center who knows what all the big guy's jobs on the line to keep me and our QB safe. Jaden Bates will be our go to passing target with his ability to go up and make plays and at safety he can fly up to make plays. Vincent Muci, me and him are going to be splitting reps at RB and LB. Just like me he has high IQ, and ability to out muscle and out skill opponents.
