Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

After starting the year with a 2-2 record, Zac Poole and the Lincoln football team are eager to turn things around during their homecoming matchup against Decatur Eisenhower. The team has been preparing all week, and Poole is optimistic that Lincoln has the potential for a successful season. Recently shifting from center to guard, Poole is embracing his new role and relishes the opportunity to make impactful plays. "I love getting to pull and pancake kids," he remarked. Additionally, Lincoln's new center, Shun Hicks (2026), has been a standout performer in the offensive line, showcasing a tough and aggressive style of play that leaves defensive linemen at a disadvantage. His skill set will undoubtedly make him an asset for any college program.

Standing at 6'6" and weighing 320 pounds, Poole has been busy with recruitment, making his third visit to the University of Illinois this month, along with a trip to the University of Minnesota. "Minnesota was incredible; it was great to reconnect with Brian Callahan, the offensive line coach," Poole shared. He described the Gophers' game day atmosphere as "indescribable," highlighting how memorable the experience was.

Looking ahead, Poole is set to visit Iowa State in November, but first, he will head to Oxford, Ohio, this weekend to check out the Miami Ohio Redhawks. Throughout the remainder of the season, he also plans to visit Lindenwood, Northern Iowa, Illinois College, and Augustana College.
