DeAndre Young Harlem ATHLETE Class of 2023 6'1 190

DeAndre Young how was your junior season? Good... we lost one conference game and it was the first game of the season. The rest of the season we were beating teams by a lot and the teams wouldn’t get over 2 touchdowns. My coach moved me to running back in the middle of the season because he had me on punt and kickoff and he liked how I was able to move. I made all conference first team as a wide receiver because I had 9 catches for 200 yards but i mainly played running back. We won our first playoff game since from like 1976 or something like that and the second round of the playoffs we lost by a touchdown but overall it was good. What does football mean to you? I started playing football in 2nd grade and I loved it . I feel like it’s the reason i am the person I am today. It has built my character, it has humbled me, and has taught me lessons. I also feel that football will always be there for me when I’m happy, sad, mad anything if I pick up a football it relieves everything from me. I feel like I can be myself during football an it brings a lot out of me. I’m very passionate about football. What should college coaches know about you? They should know that i work hard, and I’m dedicated, and would do anything to win or make the team better. I am a team player I love to motivate my teammates and see them push their self an get themselves better. I love football. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait is my confidence I feel like when I’m in open field no will catch me and if it’s a 1 on 1 anywhere on the field and I have the ball, I feel like I’m going to score. I love helping out my teammates or lifting them up when they make a mistake. How does Harlem look for the upcoming season? For football we look good. Our defense is having a lot of returning players that played last year but, on the offense, we lost a big part of it with are other running back being a senior this year and leaving next year. Also are entire offensive line is going to leave next year so there a few things we will have to figure it out, but I’m not worried I know my guys will always work hard and play hard.
