Talking With St. Francis Athlete Amari Head Class Of 2023

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Amari Head St. Francis Class of 2023 5'10

Amari Head how was your junior season? My junior season was filled with many opportunities and learning experiences. I started as a defensive back last season. Got some touches as a running back last season also. Our team finished our seasons with an 8-3 record losing to Genoa Kingston in 2nd round of playoffs, so we are just looking to build from we left off last season and get to big game in November. What does football mean to you? Football means a lot to me. I wasn’t the kid that was able to start playing when I was a child. I started first playing in 6th grade. Obviously, football has built me into a better athlete in all aspects, but it has taught me more than that outside of football. It has taught me how to be a better older brother, friend, and son and when I’m older a good father. On the other hand, when I play football, it has taught me to play every down and practice every practice like it is my last. That what I think it takes to be a good athlete. What schools have you talked to so far? I’ve been talking to Dayton, Valparaiso, Dartmouth, Colgate, Princeton, Indiana State, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, UW-Platteville, Michigan Tech, etc.… What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I am a student-athlete. I put my grades and school before anything. They should also know that I am a hard worker and coachable athlete. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? As a running back, I have a good vision of pre-snap read and what hole I would be able to hit and if I would be to have that cutback lane or not. I feel that my IQ and awareness is my strongest trait as a running back mixed in with other running back needed traits What goals do you have for yourself this season? First, I want to finish the season healthy. Second, I want to help my team get to state and win state and also start that by leading them on and off the field. Third, I want to rush for over 700+ yards and rush for 20+ touchdowns this season. Lastly, I want to leave a legacy at St. Francis that my younger peers could look up to and hopefully duplicate or do even better.
