Matt Egly Oswego Defensive End Class of 2021 6'3 240
Matt Egly how was your 2019 season? I feel like for a very junior heavy team in 2019 we did very good... we had a great set of linemen on both sides of the ball who all really dominated in my opinion. Then on top of that we had smart backs behind us who could make things work in their favor. All around the season went great but we didn’t finish where we wanted to... and now we’re coming back stronger, faster and smarter all around and even hungrier to get back on the field Really having that good up front on both sides set us up to do great things... our backs were able to read and make plays whenever and wherever we needed them to What schools have you talked to so far? I have talked to Brown, Columbia, Valparaiso, Butler, MIT, University of Indianapolis and a few others but those are the main ones What should college coaches know about you? I am a leader and I will learn whatever is thrown at me... even as a defensive end I will try my hardest to make sure I know my stuff and the stuff of the guys around me, so that I can make sure people are where they need to be when they need to be there What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel like my strongest suit is that I can learn the tendencies of the other team well and play on their disadvantages... I can see on film if the linemen across from me have a weakness and then I’ll use it against them because I’m quicker and stronger than them What are your feelings about IHSA Spring Football? I feel like at this point, it gives us almost a whole extra offseason to prepare... and with that we’re going to come ready to play. I hate having to wait but you can be damn sure we’re using the extra time to be even better than anyone thought we could be.
