Talking With Metea Valley Defender Christian Lee Class Of 2024 - Name To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Christian Lee Metea Valley Class Of 2024 6'1 170 Defensive Back

Christian Lee how has your offseason been so far? I have joined track for the first time this year and I am enjoying it. I participate in triple jump, long jump and some short sprints. Other than track, I have been visiting colleges and doing Junior Day visits. I have visited Carrol University, Illinois Wesleyan, and Augustana so far. I have more Junior Days coming up and im looking forward to visiting. While I am visiting schools and doing track; I am keeping my body healthy and ready for the upcoming season. How was your junior season last fall? As a team, we couldve done better truthfully. Individually I believe I did well but there is still room for improvements. Even though we ended the season 1-8, I use that as fuel for the next season and I know our guys are gonna get after it. Especially now that we have a new incoming group with GREAT leaders there to coach them up. What should college coaches know about you? I might not be the greatest on the field, nor may I be the most talented. One thing I do know is that I'm going to go and get it. I always strive for more. It doesn't stop at one win for me, I want to win it all. Winning reps, position, game, etc. My work ethic is going to show. Other side, im a chill and funny guy. I can easily work with a coach and can be easily coached as well. Not only am I good player, but also a great person. It's about being the same person on and off the field.

What does football mean to you? I been into football since I was 5. Ever since, football has grown on me. Football is basically apart of my life. Most of my family either plays football or watches football. I love football just because of the fact that its a violent sport. Not a lot of sports can bring excitement like football does. I just hope one day that I can bring excitement to people when they watch me play. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? The energy I bring to the field. My teammates and coaches know that I can back up my talk. My energy was powerful enough for my coaches to name me a captain. I light the flame inside my teammates and push them to greater heights. When I made big plays, you would’ve heard about it for a couple of days. My plays made it out of the field and into schools. I love that I can make a big impact like that. Next year, I'm going to make more big plays and shine some light on our program. What do you like about playing on the defense? The intensity that comes with it. Also everybody wants to be on the Offense, no one really wants to be on the Defense. It likes the odds are always against us. Making a play on Defense is way harder than making a play on Offense. Defense is mental as well as physical. What are your goals for the upcoming season? I want to lead my team to be successful when this 24 class leaves. The legacy left behind should keep going on for years. Yeah, I want the little things like a winning season and state. Im thinking more long term. This program has a lot of potential and I want colleges and other people to see that.
