Carter Magerski Marian Catholic QB Class Of 2024 6'1 200

Carter Magerski how has your offseason been so far? My offseason has been amazing! I’ve been working hard on and off the field, lifting and practicing with my team. Even after practice ends, we would get together and run our route concepts. I have been working with my QB trainer, NXT Level Athletix, and with my personal trainer. I have also been going on a few college visits and gearing up for more this summer! I have been giving back to my community by volunteering and have recently been inducted to the National Honors Society! How was your Junior season? It was overall a great season! Great coaching staff and great teammates who helped me with my transition, including Kyle Thomas who really took the initiative to get me acclimated to Marian! I had some great breakout moments and I also had some teaching moments. My junior year was definitely a success and puts me right where I need to be for my senior year. Our team has so much talent and potential, so I am really excited to kick off this next year and make a big impact in the Chicago Catholic League!

What should college coaches know about you? I would be a great asset to any college team. I have been around the game since I was 5 so my knowledge and understanding of the game is comprehensive. On and off the field I am very versatile as I have not only played quarterback but I have been called at random to play punter this last season and excelled in doing so. I have also played linebacker and cornerback for a number of years. I have a really good film study and breakdown habit in preparation for games; and also watching myself play and learning from it. One thing I hear from a lot of coaches is that I am extremely coachable in not only practice but games as well. What does football mean to you? Football is one of the most important things in my life. It has laid the foundation to make me a better student and better person. It has held me accountable in everything I have done. I love the comradery of the team, coaches, game planning, and the excitement around the friday night lights! What do you like about playing QB? I love the preparation each week for our opponents. Being under pressure wether that is in the pocket or the pressure of making a critical play is something that I particularly like the most. As a QB, knowing all the offensive schemes and plays by heart obviously comes with the job, but I love being there incase my teammates have a question about something so I can answer it. Also being able to lead my teammates down the field and being able to celebrate our wins and loses with them is special to me.

What are your goals for the upcoming season? I have a lot of big goals for this upcoming season! Firstly, I want to help play a role in getting my teammates the attention they all deserve from colleges. I want to lead several state statistics including passing yards and completion percentage. Off the field I am going to continue my academic excellence in the classroom. I think that Coach Lopez has done an incredible job with putting Marian football back on the map, so I want to further continue that for generations to come. Marian football is going to make a deep playoff run.
