Talking With Marengo 6'4 OL Evan Maniates Class Of 2024 - Name To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Evan Maniates Marengo OL/DT Class Of 2024 6'4 300

Evan Maniates how was your first game? Our first game unfortunately ended in a 6-point loss. Our team had some ups and downs. Some plays we would explode for 10+ yards and others we would get tackled at the line of scrimmage. I think as a team we did great considering Evergreen Park got a new head coach, we did not get film on them, and we did not receive a roster from them. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me. I unfortunately broke my leg last season so I was unable to play. Most people would’ve given up and not played but that injury motivated me to fall in love with the game even more and not take everything for granted. I hope I am able to play football at the next level. Football has changed me as a person. It has made me realize nothing is given and it is earned, it taught me responsibility, leadership, and mental toughness. What schools have you been talking to? Schools I have been talking to are Ripon College, Carthage college, Drake university, Carrol University, Iowa Western, and UW-River Falls

What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I would be blessed to play at their college, I will leave everything I have on the field, I work hard on and off the field. I also am one of the captains for the Marengo football team. I have a 3.4 gpa and I am a 6’4 300 lbs left tackle/defensive tackle. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait is adaptability. I can adapt to certain situations meaning if I need to change my footwork to block someone I will. Or even if they are in a different front from before I will change if I have to. What do you like about playing in the trenches? I like playing in the trenches because it’s a selfless position to be in. I like doing it because I love to see my team succeed. I also love the fact that you get to hit people every play. And I also love the fact it is a dogfight in their game in and game out.

Who else on Marengo should we keep an eye out for the rest of the season? Isaac Anthony, Rune Boyd, Dylan Locke, David Lopez, Ryley Adamsom, Lucas Grimaudo.

What goals do you have for yourself the rest of the season? Some goals I have are making all conference, getting my first offer, and being a part of a team that makes playoffs.
