Talking With Loyola Academy Running Back Will Nimesheim Class Of 2024

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Will Nimesheim Loyola Academy RB/ATH Class of 2024 5'9 180

Will Nimesheim how was your sophomore season? My sophomore season went well I would say. I spent the first couple of weeks with the sophomore team, and then was called up to varsity week 5. We finished the regular season undefeated and made a great playoff run. Sadly, fell short and lost in the state semifinals, but there was a lot for us to be proud of, finishing 12-1. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me. It’s the thing I grew up doing. Although I love playing and competing, I truly believe nothing compares to the bonds and family it builds. I have played other sports and been on other teams, and nothing comes close to football in that regard. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that my top priority every time I step on the field is to win. I will always do what I can during practice and work outs to get myself and those around me better, but my main goal is always to come out on top on game day. Going 100% every play is what it takes to get there. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I think overall my strongest trait is my ability to keep teammates and myself focused and ready to move on to the next play when something goes wrong. I try to make sure one mistake does not turn in to a series of mistakes.

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I have been working especially hard on my agility. I put on some weight to bulk up and worked to make sure I could keep developing faster feet as I got heavier. I think it has been going well. Who is faster you or your brother? Hahaha, good question. I do not know about now, but I believe my current 40 is faster than his high school 40. Maybe we will have to put it to the test. I am sure he would say “big brother effect” would give him the edge.

What game excited you the most for this upcoming season? Definitely Week 1 versus Saint Xavier Cincinnati. The game is going to be on ESPN, which is a super cool opportunity. They are a great program, and it should be super fun. The playoffs are obviously something to look forward to, but nothing is guaranteed there. So, for now, I am getting prepared for the first game.
