Cortez Phillips how was your junior season? My junior season was very great I feel like I improved also I learned a lot of things about the game, my teammates and myself. Especially coming off the bench from my freshman and sophomore year because I was undersized. Coach Burton got me my first look on special teams my sophomore year and that’s really where I got to show I got a wolf in me. What does football mean to you? Football means so much to me it means unity, brotherhood, and a stress reliever. What should college coaches know about you? Things college coaches should know about me is that I never shy away from challenges or people if they want me to reach a goal. I'm going to do even better and go above that goal, I’m an over achiever I like to prove people wrong. Another thing is I’m just a overall great person off the field. The last thing is I'm very dependable if they need me anywhere, I’m there ASAP.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? Toughness, I always put my all into every play like it’s the last no matter size or strength of another player. I’ll make sure I do my job if the play is designed for me, make that play if not than I am going to make sure my teammates make that play. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? My explosiveness when the ball is hiked also my strength and power. How is King looking for the upcoming season? To be honest I think we’re looking up this season we really focusing on our offense this season. From offensive line up, our defense should be great we had the best defense in our division this year and we are going to the next year too.
What goals do you have for yourself this season? This season I want to put my brothers, school, and me on the map. I expect nothing but greatness this season I want over 50 tackles. I want to be all state outside linebacker.
