Braden Downs Knoxville Athlete Class of 2023 6'3 200

Braden Downs how was your junior season? It went really well. It was really my first time getting real varsity playing time. I ended up starting both ways at tight end and defensive end. We had a really solid team we ended up 7-1 regular season but lost first round to a private catholic school. I think my junior season was just a glimpse of what I’m able to do, and I’m ready to show all the work I’ve put in during this upcoming season. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me. I think it represents brotherhood and also overcoming a lot of obstacles. Football is unlike any other sport it teaches you skills and mindsets that will be useful everywhere not just on a field. Football pushes me to do better in everything whether that’s school, working out etc. Some of the bonds and memories I’ve made playing football I will never forget and will cherish for the rest of my life. What should college coaches know about you? They should know I’m very coachable and pay close attention to detail. Also, no matter what the drill I’m going to give my all every single rep. They should also know I’m open to playing any position and can be moved around. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I think my strongest trait is being able to use my body and frame and being physical to get open and make good blocks. How does Knoxville look for the upcoming season? We’re looking good. We are going to be young, but all the underclassmen are putting in work every day after school, the JV team went undefeated and I don’t think they had a close game, so they definitely know how to win. We have a handful of juniors that played a very solid amount of varsity last year, so I think we will be fine as long as everyone comes in during the summer and does their job. Who else on Knoxville should I be on the lookout for the upcoming season? Oscar Young and Beau Honeycutt. Oscar plays RB and defensive line he’s very explosive off the ball and is a good athlete. Beau plays defensive back and linebacker and will most likely play QB this season, he’s very interchangeable and will make an impact wherever he’s at.
