Talking With Brooks OL/DL Christian Walton Class Of 2024

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Christian Walton Brooks OL/DL/LS Class Of 2024 5'7 235

Christian Walton, how has your offseason been so far?

It's going pretty well, being on the track team really helped me with my speed and explosion. I've also been getting work at OL Mafia. Mafia really changed me as a person and a player. One of the best OL programs in Illinois.

How was your junior season?

Junior year was rough, we went 2-8 with a lot of new players. We needed to teach people who never played football before against the top competition in Illinois. Although we had our tough patches, it was fun playing with the top teams.

What does football mean to you?

Football is everything to me. Watching Matt Forte tear through the defense made me fall in love with the sport. My grandma wanted to live long enough to see me grow into a gentleman, and I believe football is my ticket there.

What should college coaches know about you?

I just want to play football. I do not care who I go up against, I will win and give max effort. I don’t care how undersized I am, I’ll win the 1on1 and it shows on film. I do not have D1 size, but I have the grades, the work ethic, and the heart to play Division 1 ball.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?

My relentlessness is my strongest trait. I keep pushing and fighting for 4 quarters. I also lead the line as a center, so my mental game can’t waver.

What do you like about playing in the trenches?

The trenches show me my true self. I get to let out all my frustrations onto another person. Skill positions don’t really go 100% for every rep. If you don’t go 100% in the trenches, you’ll die.

What part of your game are you working on in the offseason?

I am working on my long-snapping and pulling abilities. We plan to have my dynamic blocking patterns this year. Getting ready to have a bigger role next year.

What goals do you have for yourself this upcoming season?

I want to get offered by any college. Of course, the dream is playing for the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign, but as long my education is free with a journalism major, I’m fine.

How does Brooks look for the upcoming season?

We are ready to compete. Only 2 players left our team so the chemistry is still there. We also have transfers who are ready to play this year. Everyone on this team has experience now and that means a lot for us.

Who on Brooks should be ready for a breakout season?

Vertis Shelby, 6’7 280 monster on the line. Gavin Greathouse, Aidan Harrison, Antione Young, Josh Nobriga, Noah Oloukun, Dante Wright, and Christan Anderson are all ready to show out.
