So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Robert Martin how was your junior season? It was a relatively solid season. It had its ups and downs but made some good developmental steps later on in season that allowed me to get good playing time especially in our first playoff game vs. Argo. Overall, it was a great for development and I thank the seniors and coaches for that help. What does football mean to you? A ton. It has helped shape my character and helped make my mindset ultra-competitive and dedicated in everything I do so I can achieve the best in anything I'm doing. It truly has helped shape the mindset I've had over the last 3 years. It helps at hersey that our culture helps foster that in a positive and meaningful way. What should college coaches know about you? I am a player who trusts the process and I bring unparalleled leadership to any program. My academics are very strong and will never be an issue for any program. My developmental potential is incredibly high and I think my best is yet to come. I am willing to go anywhere and play at any program across the country, regardless of level or division.

What do you like about playing on the defense? It's the side of the ball where you can be the most aggressive. Our DC, Coach Donatucci, helps put us in the best position possible on every play to help us as players win every play and win the drive. Personally, it's the best side of the ball to play on. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My IQ and recognition of plays. Later in season, I got especially good at pointing out tendencies and picking up on trends teams were doing in game. It will be crucial that I carry that trait into next year as it slows the game down a lot.

What goals do you have for yourself this upcoming season? 1. Start full time on the varsity, either side of the ball.

2. Help teach and prepare the underclassmen for their time at Hersey Football so they can be successful to help continue the success of the program.

3. All-Area selection

4. Work on game mechanics, make big time plays. Gain interest from those plays.

5. Find a place to play the next 4 years!
