Speaking With Harlem WR Drake Ferguson Class Of 2024

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Drake Ferguson Harlem WR/ATH 6'1 184 Class Of 2024

Drake Ferguson how is your offseason going so far? It is going pretty good. I’m excited to start showing all of the hard work I’ve been putting in when attending camps. How was your junior season? I had a decent start, and I’m pretty sure I was leading the team in receiving yards. But that got cut short because I broke my collarbone against Guilford in Week 4. What does football mean to you? Football is honestly what betters me as a person every day. Mentally and physically. I’ve been a basketball guy my whole life and deciding to play football my junior year is probably the best decision I’ve ever made. The process of getting better every day along with the competitiveness that comes with it is what i love about it.

What should college coaches know about you? That I am someone that treats every rep, and every practice, like it is a game. I am thankful every day for being able to compete and work hard. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel like my strongest trait is the positive energy that I bring to the field. There is so many times during the season, and during 7on7 that my teammates start to act negative when things aren’t going their way. I feel it is important to stay vocal and positive towards them to keep the energy up. I also am very confident in my hands and feel like I can catch anything thrown my way. How does Harlem look for the upcoming season? We’re looking pretty good. Got a lot of young guys with a lot of potential along with seniors with lots of experience. We’ve got lots of weapons on both sides of the ball. If we can get everybody bought in to the playbook, I think we will be a really hard team to beat.

What goals do you have for yourself this season? Some goals I have for myself are to be in the top 3 for receiving yards in the NIC-10, make all conference, and to make a great impact on the defensive side of the ball as well.
