Meet Stagg OL/DT Waseem Gorchene Class Of 2026
So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Waseem Gorchene, how is your sophomore season going so far?
My sophomore season is going pretty well. We just finished off week 7 with a win against Sandburg, leaving us at 4-4 as we prepare to face Bradley.
What has been your favorite memory so far this season?
My favorite memory this season has to be when we had to play two games in one week. We played against Da La Salle on Monday and Oak Lawn on Thursday, finishing off weeks 1 and 2 of the season in a single week and starting the season 2-0.
What does football mean to you?
Football means a lot to me. It has helped me manage my time, be disciplined, and has shown me how hard work pays off. It has also helped me develop communication skills with my teammates to achieve a common goal. Football has equipped me with a lot of skills that I can now use outside of the game.
What should college coaches know about you?
For college coaches, they should know that I am a hardworking football player. I am committed to football as I never miss practice and am always there whether I can participate or not. I am really competitive and a strong leader, dedicated to helping my teammates succeed.
What do you like about playing in the trenches?
I love the physicality of the game and the ability to take on an opponent and drive them down the field opening opportunities for my teammates, such as the quarterback or running back. Playing in the trenches offers the opportunity to do this on every play. Even though it's not one of the most recognized positions, dominating the opponent is huge for the team's success. I also love the fight to protect my quarterback, the fight in general is what I love about the trenches.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
My strongest trait on the football field is being a dominating overachiever. My goal every play is not only to complete my job/block but to completely dominate one or more opponents from the opposing team.
What part of your game do you plan to work on in the offseason?
I wish to work on every aspect of my game to become a more agile, mobile, and explosive player, making me able to dominate even more effectively on the line next year and help my team's success.
