Jacob Ackman Newman Central Catholic QB/DB/ATH Class of 2021 5'11 175

Jake Ackman how was your 2019 season? As a team, it was almost perfect. Winning state and going 13-1 was amazing, and we had a great bond. Individually, I had a much better playoff than the regular season. I expect myself to be much more consistent this year. What does football mean to you? Football means the world to me, and has taught me much more than any other sport has. It’s taught me unity. It’s taught me how important family is. Lastly, it’s made me realize how I can’t live without the sport. What would you like college coaches to know about you? I want college coaches to know that while I am undersized for a quarterback at the next level, I can still play with the big guys. I rely on my work ethic, agility inside and outside the pocket, and being a film rat who will always try to find and exploit weaknesses in opposing defenses. I constantly am working to get better everyday, whether it’s getting in extra throws or extra reps in the weight room. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My ability to read defenses. I might not have the strongest arm, but my touch and my ability to find holes in coverage makes me a viable quarterback What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? My running ability. Last year I didn’t run for nearly enough yards than I should have, so I’ve been working on running after drop backs and running between tackles. I also have been working on my throw power too. How does Newman Central look for the upcoming season? Pretty good. Our conference is one of the toughest in the state, but we’ve put the work in and we just have to come ready to play each and every week.
