Cole Jackson Illini West ATH 6'3 180 Class of 2021

Cole Jackson how was your 2019 season? Overall as a team we made great progress even though we started out slow moving into a new offense, going 1-4. But once we started to build some chemistry we ended the season on 4 straight at 5-4. What should college coaches know about you? I love being a leader, and am very determined when it comes to achieving my goals. I’m a late bloomer, all of my highlights from junior year are from a 6’2 165lbs junior. After leading in rushing, my coach told me if I want play college ball I need to gain weight for senior year. During the off-season I gained around 20 lbs while getting faster, and am now sitting at 185lbs. I’m very diverse when it comes to football I have played multiple positions throughout football. But when COVID hit, and football was cancelled, I had no film to show for my breakout year What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I’d say my physicality and plays a big role, especially when I moved from strong safety to an Inside LB last year. On top of that, playing both sides of the ball last year, I feel I have a lot of diversity with my size. I had a coach tell me, “ I think it’s going to be your versatility with your combination of size, length, and speed to be able to play in coverage and play in the box.” What goal do you have for yourself this upcoming season? Taking on the leadership and trying to be the most dominant player I can be. Have a winning season, and do as much as I can to put my team in a situation to win. How does Illini West look for the upcoming season? I believe we have a lot of potential, But there will be ups and downs. Switching offenses and having a young line, we need a lot of work. But with time I think we can become a very solid team and be a good contender in the playoffs
