So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Melvin Coe ICCP OL/DL Class Of 2025 6'0 260

Melvin Coe how was the Lake Forest College camp? The Lake Forest Camp was great. I had an amazing time with the lake forest staff, learning new moves on the Defensive line and also learning how to get to play football at the next level. The college coaches there were very helpful also with the drills and new defensive line techniques. What does football mean to you? Football means responsibility, dedication hard work, heart, resilience and a great mentality. The most important part about football that’s means something to me is family, because it’s not just a 1-man sport it helps you bond with the guy next to you no matter if you like them or not. What should college coaches know about you? Something I think college coaches should know about me is that I’m not the tallest I’m not and I’m not the strongest but I promise I will give effort all the way, I will finish until the whistle blows. I also take being a student athlete seriously finishing school with a 3.5 Gpa.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My Strongest trait on the football field is my leadership and my desire to finish. My heart is a big trait to I don’t give up, no matter how big the opponent is or what ranking they are. I will show everybody that they’re a football player just like I am. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I’ve been working on my speed off the ball and my Strength all around. Also been working on staying in shape. At IC, We’re a small school so I go both ways I have to make sure I can finish all 4 quarters.

What do you like about playing in the trenches? I love everything about trenches, the physicality that takes place in it, the feeling of the running back running it up your butt and scoring a touchdown. Getting a sack on 3 and long. It all feels great.
