Meet Downers Grove South Athlete Coen Godenschwager Class Of 2025

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Coen Godenschwager Downers Grove South Athlete 5'11 160 Class Of 2025

Coen Godenschwager how was your freshmen season? My freshman season was definitely fun, and I enjoyed it, met a lot of friends and it helped me learn what position suits me and what I need to continue to improve on to make varsity. What does football mean to you? Football to me is like a lifestyle, it’s what I enjoy and love to do and I just feel at home on the field. What should college coaches know about you? I’m a very coachable player, I can adjust to any scenario and can learn new things instantly, I can also adjust and play different positions if needed and I have a very good work ethic and will not quit working until I can master what I am trying to do. What part of your game do you plan on working on the offseason? This off-season I’ve focused and worked on my strength and speed a lot because I feel they were my weakest spots; I worked a lot through my school's off-season football lifting program which helped me get a lot stronger and improved my speed which I am still working on by my self. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I think my strongest trait is my vision/ decision making, I can vision plays and judge what will happen before they do happen and can find a way to make a play. How has your 7on7 season been so far? My 7on7 season has been very good, I’ve been competing in two leagues, my high-school league and boom football, both have been fun, and I’ve learned a lot but my high-school league has been great because of the bond I’ve build with the upperclassman and being able to continue to learn and ball out to show what I’m capable of. What goals do you have for yourself this season? This season I have a few goals, 1 - To prove myself in varsity summer camp to show that I have what it takes to compete at the varsity level, 2 - I want to try and get a starting spot even if it means switching my position to better the team, 3 - No matter what I want to continue to get better and become a better player this season.
