Phillips Goodrich Jr. Carmel Athlete Class of 2026 5'10 182

Phillip Goodrich how was your 8th grade season? My 8th grade season was good, I played for Crystal Lake Raiders we were undefeated in regular season in 14u pop Warner, competed in the DeKalb tournament and won the championship, then we went down and competed in Tennessee tournament. What excites you most about entering into your freshmen year of football? I’m excited to be playing HS football at the varsity level and in one of the most competitive football conferences in Illinois. The staff is amazing, from Coach McKie and Davis with big time NFL experience and knowledge. To my position coaches like Coach Turner (LB) and McKie (RB) not to forget the team managers and athletic trainers. The facilities are amazing top notch college level weight room and recovery it’s a blessing. Coach Pete I’m excited for the pep rallies and student body the faculty and big time for Friday Night lights!! It’s great to belong to a team that works hard like this one with great leadership and the highest goals and expectations for this year it’s coming together and it’s just really exciting leading up to 7:30pm Aug 26th at Baker Stadium season opener versus a tough Antioch team.

What does football mean to you? I love playing the game of football. I enjoy every part of it. The energy that I get from playing inspires me to give my all for my team, school, and community What should college coaches know about you?

I play both defense and Offense, I will be playing ILB and RB for Carmel Catholic Varsity football. I'm working to maximize my skills at RB to be a complete back (ball security, pass protection, hands out of the back field, vision, physical explosive running style with the ability to finish) Im enjoying learning the details of ILB and really like it. I’m goal oriented, my biggest goals are to help Carmel Catholic to the IHSA playoffs every year, to win multiple State Championships before completing my HS degree and moving on to college. I have 3 younger brothers and grow up in a military family (USMC). I also play Baseball as well, I love to compete, enjoy the process the most I think, practice, the workouts, film prep, meetings, being with my brothers and working towards a common goal. I’m open to all parts of the country and look forward to building relationships over these next four years but really, I trust my coaches and really am focused on helping my team win and our goals right now. So, if I do that and keep learning and working the rest will take care of itself. I am grateful to God for all the blessings I have received and aim to be of purpose and to serve my community through my blessings to make it a better place AGTG. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I’d say my first step quickness, explosiveness and power.
