Tell me about your start to the season and what being 2-0 means to you and your team at Lakeview?

Coming from a small program and only having 3 wins this year we had to do a lot of work in the offseason and rebuilding. Going 2-0 for us is just a start, this week is about setting the tone for our conference opener against Sullivan.

What do you feel are the strengths of your game at right tackle, right guard, and defensive tackle?

I definitely feel my strength on the Offensive line in general is being dominant off the ball, We are a heavy run team so perfecting and executing on my run blocking is extremely important to me . Being a secondary for Defensive Tackle I feel i’m a good and reliable sub for when one of our guys need a break. I can hit my gaps and get off the ball.

How do you prepare each week to compete in the CPS league and what kind of pride do you take in representing your school?

I take huge pride in playing at Lakeview because we were the first high school football team established in illinois. We are constantly in the film room watching over our practices from 3:15 to 4:30 and then from 4:30 to 6:00 we are on the field practicing hard, We do a lot of indy practice, drills to improve techniques and working with the scout team to get looks on our opponents. Our Head Coach, Coach Kipp keeps it extremely organized knowing what we’re gonna do each day in advance.

What parts of your game are you focusing on improving as you continue your development?

Since the season has started we’ve cut back a lot in the weight room ,I’ve been working in my free time with my personal trainer Patrick Goldman at trying to get my numbers up in the weight room and to build more core strength.

Playing in the CPS league might not always get a lot of recruiting attention. How do you stay motivated and what do you want college coaches to know about you?

I stay motivated by believing in my faith and that whatever is meant to be will happen if I work for it. My Grandma is a huge influence on me to keep going and to not give up on my dreams. I want coaches to know that I’m devoted to football and I’ll always give my 100% even at my lowest.

Who has been the biggest influence on your football journey so far?

My biggest influence in my football journey was my Mom, I lost her when I was in 8th grade. She signed me up for football at Libertyville Wildcat Youth Sports Football when I was in 7th grade, I was new to the area and it was my first year playing. I wanted to give up early on and she didn’t let me. It made me happy to see my Mom making brownies for my team and cups with everyone’s name when we won our Championship. After losing her I knew I didn’t wanna give up on football and I wanna carry her Legacy.

What are your long-term goals both on the field and in the classroom?

My long term goal in the classroom is to be able to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, I wanna always somehow be involved in sports in my life. My goals on the field are to take my game to a higher level to be able to make a name for myself. My current GPA is a 3.0 and I also took AP US History last year and passed with a 4!

Who on your team is having a great start this season?

Definitely our starting TB and CB Jaylen Lopez he had 2 Interceptions against Orr Academy last Friday and one for a pick six. Another 2 that have been dominant are Caleb and Chris Jackson which are our 2 starting Defensive Ends

What should people know about you as a player and a person that they might not see on film?

I can be very versatile on the defensive and offensive line. I have a hard work ethic and I don’t give up easily. I can take criticism and learn how to correct my mistakes through any kind of adversity I may face.
