Kirk, how did your freshman season go?
My freshman season went great. As playing for my first time I impressed myself with the skill I developed through my coaches. I ended up having zero sacks on the season and plan to have a breakout sophomore year.
What do your off season workouts look like?
My off season workouts consist of a lot of lifting, sprints, plyometrics
and skills training. With this being my first year in the weight room I have seen a lot of improvement with my numbers through consistency. Also the sprinting and plyometrics have increased my speed and athleticism to help me get a competitive edge on my opponents. I have also found great skills training to perfect my craft above more experienced players.
What is the strongest part of your game?
The strongest part of my game is my strength and size which makes me a great challenge for any defensive lineman or linebackers who try to get past me.
What are you working on to improve?
The part of my game that I am looking to improve is my skill. This is because when I acquire the skills to go with my strength and size I would one of the best offensive tackles that any defense faces. Also gaining the skill will complete my game as a player, checking the aspects on all points of my game. Overall adding to my skill will take me to the next level.
As a freshman and someone who is newer to the game of football, what does it mean to you to play for a high school with such rich football history and so much recent success?
To me playing at the best high school in the state is an honor. I say this because not everyone gets an opportunity as such. For me playing at Mount Carmel has gave me access to great coaching and tradition. They also taught me about brotherhood and playing to win not just for yourself. These lessons you don’t get everywhere, and these lessons have switched my mindset and my discipline completely.
How is school going this year academically?
This school year has been good I have maintained a 3.81 GPA and made high honors in my last 2 trimesters. For this last trimester I am striving to get a 4.0 GPA to set me on track for the rest of my high school years, and get into a great college.
What can we expect from the Caravan this season?
This season you can expect us to come punching first and not letting up. With getting moved up to 8A we want to stay there and show we dominate no matter the circumstances.
Who on your team would you say is going to have a breakout season?
One person that is going to have breakout season is Jack Haagenson (C/O 2028-LB) because of his work ethic and dedication to the game of football. He never takes any opportunity for granted and always is working to get better at his craft.
What do you want coaches to know about you?
I want college coaches to know that I am hard working and I am dedicated to football. I am willing to win at any costs and take to any coaching or criticism that comes my way no matter if it is completing a task that will take a long time or something that could be fixed right then and there.
