Welcome back IHSA Football!!! As is every summer conference previews and again please remember predictions and previews mean crap. High school football is the greatest thing because of pure parity. What is up last year could be down this year and what is down last year can up this year. ANYTHING AND I MEAN ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN IHSA FOOTBALL. Last year 2021 was pure anarchy and no one knew what was going on. Also, unlike some prep writers who take credit and copy and paste the coach's work off a crap team questionnaire I do my own work. ILLINOIS CENTRAL EIGHT CONFERENCE 2022 Season Preview
Illinois Central Eight again has those Wilmington Wildcats as state champs from last season. Like 2015, the main question is can Wilmington return to be back-to-back champs. Reed Custer is hungry for another shot against Wilmington and shot to win ICE title. Coal City is revamped and ready to pounce on the Wildcats and beat the rival Comets. Peotone is my huge surprise team this season, because for some reason people are counting out these Blue Devils as a 3A challenger. Streator and Herscher are my two other surprises that people are really counting out and need to be respected. Streator has secret weapon in their offense. Herscher had a down season and will be back this season. Lisle is Lisle, and with Parpet at the helm they will be a tough nosed team ready for anything. Manteno is another team that a lot of people think are going to be pushovers, but I have no doubt they will be ready and surprise some team. Again, I see no glaring strengths or weakness from all these teams. This is a Conference that will be heavily competitive and is anybody's game. I see no cupcakes in this conference for 2022.

1. There will be parity in this conference no doubt about.
2. Herscher & Manteno are not as weak as you think, and I never will bet against Coach Haines.
3. There is more pressure on Reed-Custer and Wilmington than any other team in the ICE to repeat success.
4. Lisle's Chris Farrell is a pure animal in the ICE, and the Lions have some young playmakers to look out for
5. Streator has to start off on fire this season
