Danny how was your junior season?
Junior season was tough, went 2-7 in the regular season. We began the prep bowl defeating De La Salle but then losing to Marist the week after that.
The ND-De La Salle game was exciting-it went into Double OT, right?
Yes it was super exciting, came down to a double OT stop by our defense to finish the game.
What are you working on in your off-season?
Personally, I am working toward getting stronger and gaining some more mass while trying to get faster. I believe it is my turn to pick up the torch in the leadership role. As a team, we’ve had a great off season so far with great energy and hard work being done.
What goals do you have this off-season?
For the summer, I believe the best overall goal is bringing this team closer together. Summer is a time where everyone on the team works toward the common goal of winning that week one game. Everyone is there, meaning no one has other sports to focus on like some do in the off-season. Summer is a time dedicated to football, with nothing else really getting in the way.
Are you planning any college visits or camps this summer?
Yes, I plan on visiting a few schools and going to a few camps. So far, I plan on visiting Augustana and Valpo for junior day visits, and maybe going to UConn and Penn for football camps.
Are you talking with any coaches yet?
Yes. I’ve been in contact with a few coaches. Mostly division 3 and some FCS and NAIA Division 1.
What would you say is your strongest trait on the field?
I like to consider myself more of a run stopping force. I feel that I can be counted on to make a big stop on that 4th and inches run up the middle or pursue a run to the outside.
How are your grades this year?
My grades were pretty good last semester, this semester they’ve stayed in a good spot so far.
What can we expect out of Notre Dame this season?
I think that Notre Dame will bounce back this season, coming back faster and stronger than last year with some returning talent on both sides of the ball.
If there is one thing you want to college coaches to know about you, what would that be?
College coaches should know that I’m very coachable. I am focused on and dedicated to the process of making our team better, whether that means in the weight room or during practice. I can be trusted to do the work for the guy next to me.
Last question-If there is one player on your team that you would say this is going to be his year, who would that be?
If I had to choose one guy, I’d say Luke Dickey (QB / 5’10 / 175 lb
/ CO 2026) has the talent and work ethic to have a breakout season. With previous experience at QB from our last season as only a sophomore, he can be looked at to lead our offense to the end zone.
