Deep Dish Football Saturday GOTW OT Week 2: Taylorville vs St. Edward Preview With Coach Big Pete

Alright so we got powerhouse Taylorville visiting St. Edward on Saturday afternoon. Taylorville beats Mt. Vernon in 13-0 game that turned some heads on Friday night. St. Edward defeats Christ the King in blowout game last Friday night. St. Edward graduated its top rushers in the summer of 2021. St. Edward has got an impressive QB in Luciano Rolando and a passing attack that had a big game against Christ the King. Taylorville was expected to lose to Mt. Vernon and guess be a lower level team of this season from the experts. I guess having one bad season in the spring means you will be bad for the fall. Sorry to say Coach Odam put end to those rumors. Taylorville Kamren Heimsness is an absolute monster for the tornados and will be key against the St. Edward Green Wave defense. For the St. Edward defense they need to stop that high powered offense and on offense control the time of possession. For Taylorville be Taylorville, find your shots when available and take them.

Taylorville Tornados

Head Coach Jeb Odam

Players To Watch:

QB Kamren Heimsness - Athletic QB that fits this offense to a tee

ATH Karter Ostermeier - Kid has a nose for the ball, and very versatile

For Taylorville if they can get win again St. Edward they will by 2-0. They really have a great shot at getting to 5-6 wins and in the IHSA playoffs this November. Mahomet, Effingham, Mt. Zion are going to be tough tests.

St. Edward Green Wave

Head Coach Mike Rolando

Players To Watch:

Max Kaufman OL/DL - Mini-Tank that likes to fight to the whistle. One of my new favorite players in the IHSA

Luciano Rolando QB - Kid does it all and I love his arm. Weird delivery but gets the job done no doubt about it.

If St. Edward gets the big win against Taylorville they could be in the drivers seat of their destiny no doubt about it. They can get to that 5 win season but they need to beat a beast Aurora Christian or a tough Wheaton Academy team.
