Deep Dish Football Playoff OT Game Of The Week Normal vs Jacobs 7A Round 2 Preview 2021

This will a key matchup in my eyes for the 7A second round. We got ourselves a dominate force in Central Illinois with the Normal Ironmen rocking a 10-0 Record. Going against a huge dark horse of a 7A team in Jacobs with a 7-3 record and a multi-purpose offense. Jacobs is a team that has not backed down from a challenge this whole season and took tough losses from Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake Central, Cary-Grove (Almost beat Prairie Ridge). Then they go into the Playoffs and shock the bracket with a huge win over Hersey. For Normal they have been dominate all season and only have been really challenged by Peoria & Notre Dame in the regular season. Key matchups for me is how does Jacobs secondary stop that Normal passing attack. Normal defensive line must find a way to stop that Jacobs ground attack. This could prove to be a big time second round matchup in the 7A Class.

Normal 10-0
Head Coach Jason Drengwitz
HUGE WINS: Peoria, Peoria Notre Dame, Normal West
Round 1 Win Over Eisenhower (Blue Island)
Key Players: Chase Mackay, Tyler Dwinal, Camden Maas, Tye Niekamp, Tommy Davis, Chris Tylor, Terance Washington
Normal I believe has to be one of the least talked about undefeated team this season for the IHSA. They deserve the respect for putting a 10-0 record and that offense and defense effort has been awesome these past 10 weeks.

Jacobs 7-3
Head Coach Brian Zimmerman
Huge Wins Crystal Lake South, Hampshire
Round 1 Win Over Hersey
Key Players To Watch: Grant Stec, Nasir Canty, Ben Ludlum, Nick True, Luke Shannon, Max Benner
Jacobs was one of the most underestimated teams in the IHSA for this Fall of 2021. They do deserve more respect that they were getting before the season. They brought the fight to everyone in the Fox Valley Conference this season. Those kids really believed in each other and got the job done.
