Deep Dish Football GOTW Player Spotlight: Talking With York Star Senior QB Matt Vezza - Top Recruit

By: Peter "Coach Big Pete" Leinweber

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Matt Vezza how is your season going for you so far? Our season is going well off to a 3-0 start. We have been able to accomplish everything we have expected from ourselves so far. However, we know none of this matters and we are very excited for the season to start picking up. What has been your favorite memory so far this season? There isn’t really anything that sticks out from this season so far. We just have a group of kids that are extremely eager to improve and make some special memories later this season. What schools have you been talking to so far? I hold an offer from Drake, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon so far, but I’ve been in contact with New Hampshire, Lafayette, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, and Butler. How did feel to explode in the summer recruiting trail? It felt good, I’ve worked very hard to get to the position I am in right now. I still think I have a lot more to prove this season not only to others but also to myself. What do you see in this Downers Grove North squad for Friday night? They’re a very good team. They have a lot of returning starters and playmakers on both sides of the ball just like us. It should be a good game and will be our first test so we’re excited to go out and show what can do. Who is the funniest coach on the York coaching staff? Coach Moede, our tight ends coach. It’s his first year on the staff but he’s definitely a very funny coach.
