Cameron Shaw how is your season going for you so far?
My season started off rough due to injuries in the first two games, as well as the three tough losses in a row. Despite these setbacks, I’m proud of the growth my teammates, coaches, and I have made in these past five weeks and hope to carry the momentum of the last two weeks into this next game.
What does football mean to you?
Growth and family. Coming from someone who has been apart of this program for less than a year, I can say that any adversity I face on the football field, has a solution that I can translate to everyday life as this is bigger than a game. The group of men and young women that make up Lane Tech Football continue to teach and remind me what it means to be a person of good character. These experiences that my coaches and brothers have shared have shaped myself and many others into better people who inspire others to create positive change.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
My strongest trait on the football field definitely has to be my speed. As a smaller competition sprinter, I’ve spent years learning how to better use my body to be in specific spots before anyone else. This, combined with my teams ability to rally to the ball, cover, and overall make plays creates tough games for both running and passing offenses.
What do you see in this Taft squad for Friday night?
I see a tough team. This is a team that likes those big plays, both offensively and defensively and will make you fight for every yard and every stop. Fortunately, I believe our coaching staff has prepared us mentally and physically to compete with any and everyone we might face.
Who is the funny guy on the Lane Tech team?
I have to give it up to our “Head Player Morale Coach” and fellow student , Michael (Big Mike) Baker. Although he can’t actively play the games, he brings and expounds upon the sideline energy necessary to win big time football games.
