Cael Brezina Downers Grove North LB/ATH Class of 2024 6'3 200
Cael Brezina how has your season been going for you so far?
The season has been going really well for me. Obviously as a team we are having a ton of success, but personally I have been happy with my performances. Definitely a ton of room to improve, but I had a great game against DGS and hope to put together another good game this week. How has the excitement been in the locker room?
We have been excited but the whole team is still hungry. We started 3-0 last year and didn’t end the season how we wanted to, so there is very little content with such a strong start this season.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
I think my strongest trait on the football field is my play recognition and leadership. I do a lot of film study to be prepared to play Friday nights and have a pretty good understanding of most offenses and their schemes. I try to always bring the energy with our defense and the rest of the team feeds off of that during the game.
What do you see in this York squad on Friday night?
They have a strong passing game and have very good play calling on the offensive side. I don’t think their offense can hang with our defense when our secondary is locked in, because we have an outstanding d-line that I expect to get a bunch of sacks this week
What should college coaches know about you?
College Coaches should know that I really just want to play the game of football. I work as hard as anybody improving my body, skills, and mind in order to be as good as I can. I also think because of having a good work ethic, I am a great leader and can be very versatile as a player. What goals do you have for yourself the rest of the season?
I want to total 50 more tackles by the end of the regular season and get at least 10 more TFLs. I need to step up and force some turnovers for our defense, so I would like to have 2 picks or Forced Fumbles. I hope to be All-Conference help led my team to a state title this year. Who is one player on DGN that is having a breakout season?
Obviously, we have a lot of guys playing some really great football. Ben Bielawski is easily one of the best d-lineman in the state. He could be a dominant pass rusher at a D1 school and deserves so much more recognition. He has 8 sacks in the first three games, and I expect him to get at least 25 on the season in a conference full of strong offensive linemen.
