Jack Scmid Marian Central Catholic Athlete Class of 2023 5'6 150
Jack Schmid how has your offseason been so far?
The offseason has been a grind for the team both physically and mentally, but I know with the work we've put in, it'll show Friday night.
What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?
This offseason I've put a lot of work into mental toughness in terms of being able to perform while tired and being able to process information on the field at a fast pace, which has been a huge part of our team's training as a whole this summer. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
My strongest trait on the field is my mental toughness. As being one of the smaller guys on the team I've learned I have to work smarter than everyone else. Without this trait I wouldn't be in the position I'm in today as a captain of the team and hopefully, given my size, an unexpected weapon in game.
What does Marian Central Catholic football mean to you?
Marian Central football means everything to me. It's more than a sport but rather a family. I've built some of my closest relationships with people here including coaches and players. We've built our team's culture around a brotherhood and one heartbeat. Who is the funny guy on the team?
I'd name Matt Laib as the funny guy of our team. He's always been able to boost morale among the team and help push us through adversity, but don't be mistaken, he may be our funny guy, but he'll still be a weapon on the field come game time. What game excites you the most in this upcoming season besides Week 1?
I'm excited for our week 7 game against Rita which I think might be our biggest challenge of the year, but as you'll see come game time, we aren't scared of a challenge but embrace it. What do you see in this Wheaton Academy squad for Friday night?
Wheaton academy has some athletes and are all around a pretty solid team but are nothing we can't overcome. We've been looking forward to this week for a long time and are ready to take on the challenge. What goals do you have for yourself this season?
Being my senior year, I hope to play as much football as I can before my time is up and help push my team as far as possible while hopefully laying a foundation and a precedent for future teams to come through Marian.
