Conversation With Prospect Linebacker Grady Catanzano Class Of 2024 - Name To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Grady Catanzano how was your sophomore season? My sophomore season was a great experience for me. I developed many new skills and a better understanding of the game. Going from playing freshman football to being one of the only sophomores on varsity was a big change. I had to step up and do my part for the team. We made it very deep in the playoffs, being only one game away from playing in the state championship but coming up short. I know having that in mind is going to push me and all my teammates to make it to that final state championship game this upcoming season. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I am certain that I will be the hardest working player in any room I walk into at any time. I am constantly trying to improve my craft and the players around me. I am a leader. I am constantly training to get better, not only on the field but also in the classroom. Finally, I know my strength and my drive to be the best player I can and will benefit any program that gives me a chance. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest traits are definitely the power and explosiveness that I bring while getting off blocks/tackling, while squatting nearly 600lbs, benching 335lbs, and having a power clean of 285. I am also always thinking on the field, making correct reads and being able to make the play consistently. What do you like about playing linebacker? I love being the leader of the defense especially at middle linebacker. Linebacker lets you be involved in every play. Either if it's coming with a blitz, getting of a block, dropping back in coverage, and especially being able to make big plays and big hits. I love how there is a big mental aspect while playing linebacker because you need to know what’s happening in the play at all times, then to make sure you know where to be. What game are you most excited for the upcoming season? Right now, all I’m focusing on is our week 1 opponent Sandburg, as a team we are focusing on taking one game at a time. We have a great first couple games to start off our season against some great programs. We will need to prove our dominance once again and we are ready to go. What does football mean to you? Football is everything to me. When I was in 2nd grade, I made the decision to join tackle football and I haven’t looked back ever since. I'm always working to be the best football player that I can be if it's not going to football or speed training consistently, lifting, running hills, linebacker drills. I always want to get better. My biggest goal currently is to receive a full scholarship to play football at the next level. There is nothing that will stop me from working towards this goal.
