So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

DJ Pearson Plainfield Central Athlete Class of 2023 5'11 195

DJ Pearson how was your junior season? My junior season went great we finished off 8-2. I believe that our season was more than our record, we accomplished goals that nobody believed we could achieve. We had a team that could rely on each other, when things went wrong, we turned our back on the world and came together as a team. The seniors left us with important lessons and how to be leaders not just for our teammates but for our community. What does football mean to you? Football to me is a lifestyle. You wake up every day with an opportunity that not everyone gets to be 1% better than you were yesterday. Football to me is an outlet that whatever you put in you get out. It challenges me to better myself for my family, teammates, and coaches. What should college coaches know about you? I want to better myself in every area of the game. I work hard and put in effort with everything I do. I want to not only be a part of a team but a family. I have good character on and off the field. I strive to make the best choices to not only be a good teammate but a great person. I'm look forward to being coached at the next level. What excites you most about this upcoming season? This is my 3rd year playing varsity football. But the senior season is always the most exciting. I look forward to the rest of the summer and how the team is coming together. We've got a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, and I can't wait to show what we are capable of. How does Plainfield Central look for the upcoming season? I'm hoping to build off the momentum from last year and continue to accomplish more. We have great leaders that have the 3-year varsity experience to shape our team into a great one. And younger guys who have been developed into great athletes. Very confident in our ability to have another winning season. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My best ability is versatility. I feel I can do anything on the field from lead blocking to catching a deep ball to taking hand offs from the back field. I'm not the biggest guy on the field but playing with heart and refusing to lose is very important to how I play. I also take pride in knowing the plays from every position. And being a guy, the team can rely on.
