So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Cruz Ibarra Jr. QB Oswego Class of 2023 6'3 190

Cruz Ibarra how was your junior season? I would say my junior season went pretty well. I sure was bummed when I first found out I wasn’t starting week one since. I worked so hard for that starting spot all summer, but Julian Toma is a good QB, and he earned it. I knew after week one I had to work two times harder to get that starting spot and that is exactly what I did. At the end of the season I realized I lacked confidence in myself and I saw on film if I build up that confidence and I have now it will be a problem for everyone especially with all the other weapons we have on our offense. Deakon Tonielli, and Jordan Katzenbach we have many other guys that can really put on a show on the field and I’m excited to see what we will do our senior season. I’ll say right now we won’t be first round exits that’s for sure What does football mean to you? Football mean family to me it’s really a game that builds a brotherhood. You can start off disliking someone but in the end, you will end up building an unbreakable relationship and without that relationship you can’t really perform that well on the field. And most importantly fun for sure What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know whatever you need done I’ll get done no doubt I’ve learned to teach myself to trust myself a lot more. I am confident in my ability to perform well on the field no matter what the situation is I won’t let a coach down they can trust me in difficult tasks What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I would say my size and my athletic ability. My size helps me see over the o-line and d-line and also helps me not get taken down so easily, my athletic ability comes from wrestling as well it helps me get out of different situations. Also, just my ability of scanning the field and scanning the players I am quickly able to tell the open spots on the field and my teammates and opponents next move before and during the play How was your wrestling season? My wrestling season went pretty well although I didn’t make it down state, and I didn’t reach the goal. I was aiming for this season prepared me for my senior season where I’ll be 100% ready and I’ll be on top of the podium What schools have you talked to so far? Honestly, none at all so I don’t have much to say for that question.
