Jacque Gariepy how was your junior season?
My junior season went great. As a team, we went 7-2 in the regular season and made it to the 8A Elite Eight (one of the best seasons in program history). We exceeded our expectations. Personally, I achieved my goals of becoming an all-conference player and a captain for a couple games. I definitely have bigger goals this year and still a lot to improve on though.
What schools have you talked to so far?
So far, I’ve been talking with Drake and Valparaiso primarily where I’m taking visits this spring. I’ve also talked with St. Thomas, Dayton, and multiple other D3 schools.
What should college coaches know about you?
College coaches should know my best trait is coachability. I’m obsessed with making improvements to my game, and I take feedback well.
What do you like about playing on the defense?
I love defense because I can make all hell break loose. Playing defense is all aggressiveness, football iq, and technique to me. I love that I can utilize those three components of my game to hit the opponent as hard as I can.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
I feel my strongest trait on the football field is my football iq/knowledge of the game. I think I’m extremely assignment sound and calm under pressure because of this.
How does Glenbrook South look for the upcoming season? The seniors really helped change the culture of the program this year, in my opinion. This 2023 class is going to continue that. We have many talented juniors returning and sophomores ready to make a difference, so you can definitely anticipate us to be contending for a conference championship and playoff run once again.
