Conversation With Burlington Central Big Man Porter Mihelich Class Of 2024 - Name You Need To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Porter Mihelich how was your sophomore season? It was a really good learning experience. It was so fun to be on the varsity team and be able to start all 9 games. As far as wins and loses go we didn’t meet the goal we wanted, but personally I was able learn how the varsity game is played, the speed, the intensity and all the mental preparations that you need to be successful. I am hoping that now I can put all the lessons from this year into practice going forward. But even with all the adjustments aside I was able to have a successful first season with good production.

What does football mean to you? It means so much to me, it drives me to become a better leader, better person physically and mentally and pushes me beyond my limit. Since my first play I have loved the game so much which is what pushes me to want to play at the college level because I don’t want to stop playing the game. What should college coaches know about you? I love leading the team. I want to take charge and lead people to a goal and bring people up physically and mentally. I’m also really competitive and consider myself a hard worker. What do you like about playing in the trenches? The physicality that goes into it. I love playing the inside A and B gap but also rushing the C. I love the intensity and environment down in the trenches as well as the mental aspect of figuring out your opponent. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? Big emphasis on getting more technically sound and stronger obviously, but also working on getting more athleticism, and more mobile, explosive strength. I also have gotten more flexible as well. How does Burlington Central look for the upcoming season? All the guys have put in a lot of work this offseason despite the changes. We’ve got some good younger guys coming up and a good amount of returning starters. I’m excited for what the season holds and know we’re going to be a strong team.
