Conversation With Benet 6'4 OL Joe Rodi Class Of 2025 - Name You Need To Know

By: Peter "Coach Big Pete" Leinweber

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Joe Rodi how was your sophomore season? It was great. I started all nine games at right tackle and enjoyed being able to go against some of the best defensive linemen in the state. We didn’t finish where we wanted to as a team, but I definitely made some lifelong memories with my seniors. What does football mean to you? Football means a lot to me. It has taught me many life lessons that I will use throughout the rest of my life. I also use football as a motivator in the classroom, as I know that without the sufficient grades, making it to the next level becomes more difficult.

What should college coaches know about you? They should know that I very commited and have a strong work ethic. When I set my sights on a particular goal or achievement, I am set on reaching it. I’m very goal oriented and I would do anything for my team to succeed. This is a trait that I think shows both on the field, as well as in school. What do you like about playing in the trenches? My favorite aspect of playing line is the physicality. It’s a battle between you and the guy across from you every play, and I love competing every snap. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? Definitely my athleticism. I have quick feet and my agility and speed give me an advantage at my position.

What are your goals for yourself next season? My main goals are to be named ESCC All-Conference and All-Area. I also want to help bring Benet Football back to state championship level.
