Coach Big Pete's Top 10 Under The Radar Illinois Recruits For The Class Of 2023 For Summer 2021

So here are my Top 10 Under The Radar Recruits for the Class of 2023 in Illinois for the Summer of 2021. I consider these recruits under looked and somewhat under valued by college scouts and college coaches in the Summer of 2021. Really think these group of recruits could be huge fall season risers in the Illinois recruiting pipeline this upcoming football season. Again these are from my scouting notes and my scouting scores from the spring season and summer college camp season (talking with college coaches) so far. College Coaches if you need more info (notes) please email me or DM me. Email - coachbigpetefp@gmail.com

Coach Big Pete's Top 10 Under The Radar Illinois Recruits For The Class Of 2023 For Summer 2021

JaMycheal Towns LB St. Rita 6'3 195 HUDL TWITTER

One of the top linebackers in the state of Illinois for 2023, but also could also be in the Midwest. Just flat out plays to the whistle and sniffs out the play. High IQ player from the southern burbs that just likes to hit. Just great overall sideline to sideline speed.

John Weidenbach LB Benet Academy 6'1 225 HUDL TWITTER

This Redwing recruit has been on my radar since the end of his freshmen year. One of the better instinctive linebackers that knows how to attack the gaps. Underrated athleticism and top on-field IQs in that linebacker class. I consider him one of smartest linebackers in the state.

Charlie Newton WR Walter Payton Prep 6'2 192 HUDL TWITTER

Charlie killed it the whole summer of 2020 and really impressed everyone from college coaches to scouts. Runs the smoothest routes that I have seen from the 2023 Class, and has really superb hands. Who ever gets him is getting a special kind of WR that can make contribution to a team in his freshmen college season.

Christian McKinney LB Homewood Flossmoor 6'0 210 HUDL TWITTER

McKinney is a Top 10 linebacker in the state of Illinois for this junior class. He should be getting more looks than he is getting right now. Plays with intensity and makes great pursuits on his tackles and not mention great job in his coverages. Comes from that great HF Viking tradition of defensive playmakers.

Oshbi Odior ATH Oswego East 6'2 235 HUDL TWITTER

One of the most truest athletes in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2023. He is a jack of all trades recruit and I really believe that kid still hasn't showed us his full potential. High Character kid that is just a pure natural athlete. What I really enjoy about this kid's game film is that he is not afraid to block or to get hit. Big body that can get those extra yards on the 3rd down.

Ivan Erickson DE Marmion Academy 6'6 225 HUDL TWITTER

One of Illinois best kept secrets in recruiting in the Land of Lincoln. Ivan has natural leverage and does a great job fighting off blockers. Love his handwork against OL, you do see that level of talent from a sophomore. Grades out in the top 10 percentile of the Class of 2023 Illinois defensive recruits.

Chris Farrell OL Lisle 6'5 280 GAMEFILM TWITTER

Really like Chris at OL and yes another small school stud that you need to know about. Reminds a lot of Class of 2021 Gesky from Manteno that is now playing at the University of Illinois. Has the potential and frame to be a FBS level recruit. Underrated athleticism and knows how to finish his blocks. Again still a little raw and needs to grow into his body.

Jacob Welch OL Johnsburg 6'6 285 HUDL TWITTER

Multi-Sport big man athlete that has really impressed since 2020. Great footwork and also has a great center to low gravity. Not to mention that the fact that kid still is has not grown to his full level of potential. A lot of college coaches mentioned to me that they see this kid as a real dark horse.

Danny Novickas ATH Mt. Carmel 6'3 205 HUDL TWITTER

Again another big time athlete that will be a huge recruit in the fall. The kid does a really job at any spot on the field and he just loves to compete. Think he could better used on the defensive side of the ball in college. Really impressed me in the Summer of 2020 at the Lemming Prep Showcase, and I couldn't stop praising the kid to coaches.

CJ Campos LB Lemont 6'5 225 HUDL TWITTER

You really don't see a recruit of this size with such great speed that CJ has. One of the better blitzing hybrid linebackers in the state of Illinois. Campos to me could be a huge time recruit in Illinois by the Fall season. Has a huge inquiry by college coaches with 3-4 defensive schemes.

HONORABLE MENTION:

Collin Gerger OL St. Rita 6'4 260 HUDL TWITTER

Collin is going to blow up this Fall on the recruiting scene, its just a matter of time. Talk about a OL that finishes his blocks. This kid right is a Top 10 OL in the state of Illinois no doubt about it for the Class of 2023.

Soren Erickson ATH St. Charles North 6'3 210 HUDL TWITTER

Question wrapped in an enigma that is wrapped in another question. Where do you play Soren at the collegiate level? I like Soren in multiple spots and really have been impressed in his catching ability this summer. Looking forward to a huge fall for this Northstar playmaker.

Jake Scianna LB Lincoln Way East 6'0 220 HUDL TWITTER

One of the better playmaking linebackers for the class of 2023. Kid just makes plays and does a great job of in his pursuits. Is that prototype Illinois linebacker that always produces great stats. One of the few linebackers in Illinois that fits in every modern defensive scheme.

Jacob Donohue QB Grayslake North 5'11 170 HUDL TWITTER

Jacob exploded onto the recruiting scene after a marvelous spring season. One of the better QB with throwing techniques, reminds me a lot of Zach Oles from 2016. Willing to get the right foot placement for the perfect throw. This kid could be really special this fall and I think him being undersized is a wait and see project for college coaches.

Henry Ivers LB Brother Rice 6'1 200 HUDL TWITTER

Really love this kids hip work tracing the play. Great on-field awareness, and just great nose to get to the ball. Keep a very close eye out for this kid.
