Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell
"Quinn Durkin is the best athlete in the school. Batting .500 on the baseball team and beating out anything hit on the ground, even to the second basemen. Quinn is so versatile on the field and is primed for a big junior season. Not to mention, he carries a 4.0 GPA and is a high character kid."-Coach Sheamus Murphy
Quinn Durkin was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore this past season.

Quinn, you’ve had two solid years on varsity now. What would you consider your most dominant performance?
I’d say so far my most dominant performance was against HF last season when I had 2 touchdowns and had no catches allowed on me playing corner.
You’re a dual sport athlete (playing Varsity baseball as well)-that excels at both sports. Are you able to attend football team workouts during the baseball season?
I’m not able to attend workouts with the team right now cause of baseball, but I work with my trainer (Batti Performance) about 4 times a week.
At times last year you started on both offense and defense-where do you see yourself this season?
Next season I see myself being mostly on the offensive side of the ball playing running back and slot and maybe a little bit of defensive back again.
Sandburg recently named a new coach-Coach Sheamus Murphy-how is the team energy with a new coach?
I think Coach Murphy getting the job as our head coach is huge and great for the team. I think the culture and team chemistry is stronger than it’s ever been!
Do you plan on attending any camps or going on any visits this summer?
So far I have one camp lined up-the North Central camp in June, and potentially a few others, once I determine which ones offer the best exposure.
What can we expect from Sandburg this season?
I think as a team it’s going to be an exciting year. We have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and a great coaching staff to rally us together. I think this year has potential to be something great!
What is something you want college coaches to know about you?
I’d want college coaches to know that I'm a versatile athlete that can play wherever I’m needed on the field and I have a great work ethic to back it up.
If there’s one person on your team that you think will have a breakout season this year, who would it be?
I think there’s a couple guys that will take a big leap this year: our left tackle, Cade Kohler (C/O 27, OT) and wide receiver Lucas Matykiewicz (C/O 27, WR), but I believe our soon to be junior quarterback, Sean Ruisz (C/O 27, QB) will take the biggest leap with all the tools he has as a player and an athlete.
