So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Dominic Vashkelis-Benson how was your junior season? It was great! The team finished the season (10-2) and made it to the quarterfinal round of the IHSA playoffs. As far as myself I thought that a was able to contribute and play a lot being a junior especially at the end when I was able to start against Batavia in are quarterfinal game. What does football mean to you? Everything, I’ve been playing for 10 years now and can’t remember when I wasn’t not playing football. Through football I’ve been able to make many relationships with coaches and teammates, trainers etc. I have taken football more seriously since coming to high school and have learned to love the grind and the journey. What should college coaches know about you? I’m willing to be coachable wether that be trying something new, listening to a coach or correcting myself I would do it. I’m also a very very hard worker both on the field and in the classroom with a 4.45 GPA and I’m willing to work hard to accomplish my goals. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football fleld? My physicality, I played TE and FB this season and used my physicality to hit people every play. I wasn’t much of a passing threat this season but I am hoping that I’ll be used more in the passing game next season as I have a height advantage being 6’3. What is one part of your game that you plan on working on in the offseason? My speed and strength. I am not playing a winter sport this year and will instead use this time to lift and improve my speed. I am weighing in at around 195 and I’m looking to get to at least 215 by the beginning of the summer.

What goals do you have for yourself next season? As a team our goal is to continue the winning culture that we have at Yorkville and win state. For myself I want to be able to play both sides of the ball and become a passing threat as a tight end.
