Andew Laurich Yorkville Class of 2023 DE/LS 6'4 230

Andrew Laurich how was your spring season? My spring season in my opinion went pretty well. Especially playing up at the varsity level being one of the younger guys on the field. My biggest thing about the opportunity is to learn and watch my game and always strive to improve to the best of my ability. Obviously our season got cut short but still took the opportunity and used it to the best I could. What does football mean to you? Sports have always been a huge role in my life with football and basketball. But football has really stuck with me most this past year. The game really has helped me build character and learn how to be a leader. Also my dad really plays a big role in my life as he played as a starting tight end at Iowa State as a freshman. But his career got cut short due to an injury, so looking up to him to want to do as good if not better has always been something very meaningful to me. What should college coaches know about you? Coaches should know that I have a very high work ethic as well as being a huge team player. I play the position the best way my coaches teach me while trying to lead by example to make my team defense successful. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I can set the edge very well with reading my keys of the offensive lineman. I’m also very good with getting extension and being able to read the play and react. I’m a very team orientation player with doing my job each play. It’s very important for me to do my job for our whole defense to be successful. I’m putting on more weight this off-season and hoping to dominate in the fall for my junior season. What do you like about playing on the line? I love to make contact each and every play with me using my physicality to my advantage. I also love to use my speed and explosiveness off the snap of the ball. I love to be the foundation of our defense while that plays along with me being a big team player.
