Johnny Schmitt how was your junior season? The season went really well. My team made it down to the state championship. Personally, I had a great year. I started at safety and had 87 tackles. I led the Chicago Catholic League in interceptions. Even though the season didn’t end the way we wanted it to, I’m confident that we can get back to the state championship next year. What does football mean to you?I’ve been playing football my whole life. It’s the sport I love to play. I have made many lifelong friendships through football, and it has taught me how to be a great teammate. I’m looking forward to finishing a great senior season with my guys at St. Rita. What schools have you been talking to so far?I’ve been talking with Western Michigan, Minnesota, Army, Air Force, Miami Ohio, Northern Illinois, Rice University, Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, Indiana State, Illinois State, and South Dakota. What should college coaches know about you?I love the game, and I play it fast and hard. I really enjoy the process too. I’m coachable, and I am a serious student in the classroom. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? It’s a combination of speed and the ability to find the football to make plays. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?I’ve been working out to get bigger, faster, and stronger. This off-season I have put on 15 pounds, and I weigh 190. I’m also working on DB footwork at WIN Performance 2 times a week.
