Alejandro Mejia Rantoul OL/DL Class Of 2024 5'10 280
Alejandro Mejia how is your offseason going so far? My offseason has been going pretty good. I’ve attended two camps(McKendree, Illinois College) and I’ve just been in the weight room and practice with my teammates to improve going into next year! What should college coaches know about you? Not only do I want to win on the field but also in the classroom, they are both a top priority for me especially going into my last year of high school. I’m very disciplined and very coachable and I feel like I add a lot to a team when not only as a player but also as a leader. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me it’s the one of the only sports I’ve played since 3rd grade. It’s always been there no matter what is going on in my life and it’s just always been a good outlet for me.
What do you like about playing in the trenches? I like the mental warfare aspect because not a lot of people can get pancaked or allow a sack, and want to go back out there because it can be mentally challenging and also physically. I mean you’re sometimes going against dudes that weigh 300+ pounds and your expected to move then and I love that because it’s a constant challenge that you’re expected to improve on. And it just always a constant competition no matter what the scoreboard says. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I’ve been working on my lateral quickness and my speed overall. I felt like it was a part of my game that was lacking and also my cardio along with my strength, and I have also been trying to lose some fat and replace it with muscle. How does Rantoul look this season? We’re looking good, were going to have a lot of new people fill in at the positions that last year's seniors had. We definitely have a lot of room to grow but we brought in a new head coach this offseason. He has been doing a good job of setting the expectations and what he expects from us as a team.
Who else on Rantoul should we be on the lookout for this season? A name to be on the lookout this year would be Preston Seals he is class of 2024, and he’s been a monster in weight room. Also on the track he got himself some all-conference honors and even led the high school team to state, and he is bound for a breakout season this year.
