Chatting With Morris Star Running Back Ashton Yard Class Of 2023 - Name You Must Know

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Ashton Yard Morris RB/ATH Class of 2023 6'0 205

Ashton Yard how was your junior season? My junior season was great, coming into the season I felt very undersized playing at about 165 lbs. at RB, but I believe my speed and quickness made up for my lack of size. As a team we had a very good year going 9-0 and winning conference. But we ultimately came up short in the 2nd round the playoffs to a good Morton team. What does football mean to you? Football has been the main aspect of my life ever since I was a little kid. Growing up in a football town like Morris has been a major contributor to my love for football. There’s nothing like playing under the lights on a Friday Night. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that my life revolves around Football. After being called undersized last season I have worked my tail end off this off season in the kitchen and in the weight room putting on around 35 lbs. I earned all-conference and all-area honors last season and I can’t see what I can do this year being 35 lbs. heavier. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel my strongest trait on the football field is my mental toughness. Being able to bounce back quickly from adversity and being able to use positive or negative energy to your advantage is very important on the football field. How does Morris look for the upcoming season? Morris looks very good for the upcoming season. Our team as a whole has worked very hard this off-season. We have many returning starters who dealt with the tough loss last season and know what it takes to win. What is your favorite part of playing for Morris football? My favorite part of playing for Morris football is the winning culture of playing for a team who has been to the state championship game 11 times. Many people in this town care about the football teams success and if we do not meet our expectations it feels as if we are letting the town down.
