So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Will Carlson Loyola Academy WR Class Of 2025 6'1 180

Will Carlson how is your season going so far? It’s always great to start out 3-0, and after every week our offense starts to settle in more and more. There were a lot of questions coming from the outside about if we could replace all the seniors, we had last year. Clearly with the work we have put in and the standards we hold ourselves to we are answering those questions. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me. Seeing former teammates that are at the Division 1 level go through the recruiting process as I am shows me just how close I am to my dream. I think I speak for all my teammates that it pushes us harder to get to our goals.

What should college coaches know about you? A reliable target that has a unique ability to get open and make contested catches. But apart from that is a selfless teammate and leader who is willing to put the goals of the team before himself, while keeping myself and others accountable. What has been your favorite memory so far this season? It has to be the second half of our last game. People were questioning if our offense could respond after a few bad drives and we came out and scored 33 unanswered points. What do you like about playing wide receiver? I love the freedom I have every play, whether I want to use my speed or physicality. I always have an answer to what a corner is doing.

What is your favorite route to run? I would have to say a fade, there’s nothing better than going up over the top of a defender and making a catch. While it is great it also opens up so many other routes when a corner is scared of being beat vertically. What goals do you have for yourself the rest of the season? Apart from the yards, catches, and touchdowns, the ultimate goal is always a state championship. Based of the tradition and legacy past teams have left. Everyday we come in ready to work like a state championship team

What is your go to pregame meal? I always like to keep it light, usually some eggs, sausage, and a banana.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting
