So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Blake Salvino Glenbard East LB/ATH Class Of 2024 6'1 190

Blake Salvino how was your junior season? My junior season was good we went 8-1 in conference than lost our first round in playoff. I feel like I got better throughout the season and grew as a player. I was hoping to play earthier linebacker or quarterback my junior season and ended up playing linebacker. I am happy with how I played and there are a few things I need to work on to be a better player. I was an All-Conference and Academic All-Conference linebacker. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me, I have been playing since I started walking and dreamed of playing in the pros. Football is a lot more than just a sport to me it is a way to build a family and become a better person. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I am willing to do what ever it takes to be my best. I will play any position where they need me and do what ever they need. I am a hard worker on the field and off and I am very dedicated to what I do. I am a very coachable athlete that listens and takes instructions very well. I am a leader on and off the field and try to better the people around me. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel my strongest trait is being a leader. I try to help the people around me become better while also helping myself. I feel and football team is made with individuals but a family and that is what I try to create.

How does Glenbard East look for the upcoming season? We are looking good, we have lost a few seniors but we are working hard in the off season and are gonna be a fast and physical team. We have many weapons on both sides of the ball and are looking good. We are looking to be undefeated in are conference and go far in the playoffs. I feel like this can be one of our strongest teams. Who on Glenbard East is ready for a breakout season this fall? I feel like are running back Matt Larson he is fast and shifty and a strong runner. He did good last year and looking to do even better this year. He has been working hard in the off season. Another player is Eric McClain he is a 2 way player both receiver and corner is is fast and explosive and can we the ball very well. On the defensive side our linebacker Gus Winkler is a strong and physical player who blows through lines and hits hard.

What game are you most excited about this upcoming season? I’m most excited about our week 2 game against South Elgin. We lost to them last year in a battle the whole game, but we will get our revenge this year and play them at home.
