Denarius Jackson Freeport Athlete Class Of 2024 6'1 190

Jackson Denaruius how was your junior season? My junior season went pretty good, got elected academic all-state and all-conference. I racked up 16 Td’s, 75 tackles, 8 tackles for lost, 1 interception, 1 ff. I started both sides of the ball at running back and outside linebacker this year. This was my first year actually started running back since middle school, as I was strictly used for outside linebacker freshman and sophomore on varsity because of our upperclassmen starters. I performed pretty well every Friday night as my lineman worked hard for me to get a first down every play if not every other! Learned a lot starting at running back for the first time in high school and plan to have an explosive year senior year!! What does football mean to you? To me football is everything, its the route I plan to take in life; just a sport I’ve been playing since a little kid that iv’e fell in-love with and liked better than any other sport. A sport that I know if I stay consistently working at, I can go far with in life. A sport that just allows you to block out everything that’s happening, being said, and done outside of the field.

What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I’m a hardworking driven student-athlete. The hardest worker in the room, I’m coachable, will not settle for minimum. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait on the football field would be my vision, my ability to see the next level of defenders and read the defense. Also my ability to read the offense and different motions, while still making plays! What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? This offseason iv’e been working on getting out of my breaks quicker and just having lighter feet defensive wise. Offensive wise it’s been agility drills and being more explosive.

How does Freeport look for this upcoming season? This upcoming season Freeport is looking pretty good; we had an impactful senior class this year, but we have underclassmen that’ll step in and be as impactful along with the rest of my class.
